Greetings. While today's strong job market might be beneficial to professionals looking for an array of new opportunities, it can be challenging for employers seeking to locate, hire and retain the best of the best. A recent LinkedIn survey discovered that the most effective way to attract the cream of the crop to your business is by using both traditional and innovative recruiting and retention techniques.

When it comes to the hiring process, resumes remain on top, as 58 percent of survey respondents indicated that reviewing these is their central way of vetting candidates. And while word of mouth might sound like an antiquated recruitment method, three-quarters of people reported hiring contractors they found through their personal networks.

In addition to these classic hiring techniques, many businesses have started taking advantage of technology as well. Nearly half of respondents publish job openings online and review resumes that had been posted on digital databases.
